about making queer art

Interviews for
“Hugs and Kisses” magazine

“Hugs and Kisses” is a Hamburg-based bi-annual magazine about queer culture and “alternative glamour”, covering international subjects from the arts, music and film.

The magazine was launched in October 2007, I did the editorial design and the layout for the first two issues and contributed interviews and illustrations to the issues that followed.

I chose to interview people I had met personally and whose work I was curious about, and then I took the oppurtunity to ask some questions about their ideas about the relationships between queer and making “art”(in the widest sense) that I was wondering about myself.

Kristofski Kabuki is a musician from Brighton. I saw one of his shows at the queer festival in copenhagen and we had an email-conversation about music (even though I do not know very much about it), design and questions of queer. The interview was published in “Hugs and Kisses” issue 2 in April 2008.

With filmmaker Elliat Graney-Saucke from Olympia I spoke about her documentary “Travel queeries” and the queer scenes in the U.S. and Europe for issue 3 of “Hugs and Kisses” magazine, published October 2008. The the german version of this interview is online on the magazine's website.
