thinking about drawing

theory as a basis for drawing practice

Does a more complex understanding lead to better drawings?

I read theory with pleasure because I don't understand most of the references. It opens my head and the blanks it leaves in my mind to fill up with my own explanations inspire me.

I aproach my readings in in a casual way, following the concept of “re-reading”. The text is considered as something that cannot be controlled by the authors intention. The ideas is to constantly reveal new significances in a text and to decipher new dimensions of meaning in it. Or as Antke Engel said: “It is really not about finding definite truths but about providing intriguing points of view.”

I would like to use this approach in two ways. On one hand for a playful use of theory writings and on the other hand to design my drawings in a way that is open to more than one interpretation.
